I guess we are still having too much summer fun for me to post very often. I am really looking forward to school starting so that we can get back onto a regular schedule. Summer is fun, but the craziness gets to me every now and then.

Since I last posted....
Leland went to College Station July 24-28 to be one of the presenters at a yearbook workshop for the Houston area schools. He had a good time helping staffs develop their theme and look of their 2009 yearbook. I missed him a lot though while he was gone. I don't mind being an only parent for a day or two, but five was pushing it. After he got home (and had a nap) I went out for ice cream by myself. I was really needing the quiet time. :)

My mother-in-law flew in Aug 1 and stayed an entire week. We had a good time playing with Grammy. She even took me shopping this time! Raylee still misses her Grammy and claims she's mad at her for leaving. :)

Leland and I took 27 of his students to a journalism workshop Aug 5-7. It was just in downtown Dallas, but we stayed there (at the hotel and Infomart) the entire time. It was a lot of fun. I stayed with the yearbook girls helping them develop the next awesome yearbook. I was extremely exhausted by the time we got home though. I'm not used to those late nights I guess.

As we were delivering Sandy to the airport Friday evening for her travel home, our good friends the Prathers (along with the youth group) arrived in town. Lauren, Will and Claire met us at our house that evening. Leland headed to the hotel to spend some time with Scott while Lauren and the kids stayed with us. We stayed up way too late chatting Friday night - but it was much needed. Saturday Lauren and I braved the Dallas World Aquarium with the 5 kids - it was an adventure for sure. The kids seems to enjoy it though and we got to see lots of cool animals. Lauren and the kids went ahead and stayed Saturday night also so that we could get some more time together. Leland offered to keep all the kids while Lauren and I went out for supper. We jumped at the opportunity (although we thought he was crazy for offering). We had a nice evening out. They left after lunch on Sunday just in time for her kids to nap most of the way home.

This week has been crazy trying to juggle every one's schedules. Leland had his faculty retreat on Monday and is just so excited for another year at Legacy HS. He is just amazed by the people he works with and how much they love working there.

Tuesday was our first date night. Leland and Ryland went to Six Flags and had a wonderful time. Just as they were arriving the entire park had a power outage. It did take 2 hours to get rides going again, but a lot of people had left by that point, so no waiting anywhere. They didn't get home until nearly 10. Raylee and I ate pizza at a local Italian shop and then headed to the nail salon. She loved it. She picked out our color (French oo-la-la red) and insisted we have matching paint. They took so much time on her toes and fingers - I was impressed. I had a pedicure also, so we had a nice relaxing time. Afterwards we headed to the store to get dessert where Ray picked out chocolate Teddy Grams - I offered her anything she wanted and that's what she chose - oh kids. :) Reese spent the evening with our friend Donna so she wasn't totally left out - she had lots of fun herself. Before school starts we will switch and go again (me and Ry, Dad and Ray) We are looking forward to our second round of dates before school starts.

Well, school starts on the 25th. Ryland is getting excited I think. He is more excited about soccer than school, but oh well. Speaking of, we signed him up for soccer this fall. He has been living in his shin guards and cleats ever since we bought them. He is constantly asking to go outside to practice too. I just love it.

Hopefully I will start blogging more on a regular basis so that all my posts won't just contain updates on what the Mallett's have been doing. There are so many funny stories to tell about the kids. So keep tuned....

Anyone who can get Harmony to paint her toes red is my kind of girl. Go Raylee. Ooh-la-la indeed.

Sounds like you have had a fun and busy summer. I guess that's what I have to look forward to as well. Glad you are all doing well. We should figure out a time to see each other. Any chance you're planning a trip to see your brother? Sorry we will miss all of you at the wedding. Maybe next time. BTW- how do you get your name to appear on comments instead of the blog name?
