The Rest of the Weekend

So I told you about Saturday already. The rest of our holiday weekend was full of adventure also.

Sunday, Leland, Ryland and Lee went fishing. They had a guide that took them to Lake Grapevine. They had lots of fun (except for the part of leaving the house at 4:45 am). Ryland out fished everyone! He had a blast and tried to give his Dad some fishing tips. At one point though, the guide told him he had to either fish or dance, not both. :)

While the boys were fishing, we girls went to church with our friend Donna and then ate at Applebees. We then all returned home for some much needed naps. We girls also shopped at Kohls that evening. So a full day.

Early Monday morning, Leland headed out with 2 students for Austin to attend the State UIL meet. His student placed 2nd in Headline writing! We are very proud of him. While he was gone, we all went to Addison to swim in Randy & Brenda's hotel pool. We swam for about 3 1/2 hours. The kids made great progress in their swimming. We got Ryland and Raylee jumping off the side of the pool which is a big improvement. They are excited for our next swimming adventure. After returning home, Sandy and I went to get pedicures - much needed for sure.

Today we relaxed at home in the morning. It was nice to take a break from all the running around. At 1:30 we headed out to pick up my dad from a meeting he had in town. We all ate at Chili's for a late lunch then I delivered Lee, Sandy and my Dad to the airport to catch their flights. When the kids and I got home, Leland was there too.

We all had a great holiday weekend. We hope everyone else did also. Now for the pictures.

Cousin Brandy lives in Baltimore and brought crab hats for all the kids.

Reese's 2nd Birthday Party

We had a great day yesterday. Lee and Sandy had flown in late Friday night so our fun began then. Saturday morning we all went shopping. Leland and Lee to Home Depot for yard project stuff and we girls and Ryland to Walmart. We ate at Chick-fil-a for lunch (the kids love to play there). It began raining on our way home, so the kids put on their swimming suits as soon as we walked in the door to go play in the rain/runoff. After awhile I had them come in for some rest before our guests arrived. We had Sandy's sister Brenda and her husband Randy, their son Drew and his wife Rebekah and their daughter Hannah, and R&B daughter Brandy and her good friend Jenny plus us and Lee and Sandy - I had a very full house. They all began arriving around 2:30. We headed straight for the backyard and began playing soccer and then in the water. The kids had a great time and the adults enjoyed watching. After a couple of hours it was getting too hot, so we all came in while we cooked fajitas for everyone. We then had Reese open presents and we all enjoyed some cake before the Caffey's had to head out. It was a great day of family, fun, and celebrating our 2 year old Reese.

Enjoying a movie before everyone arrived.

Slip-n-slides are so much fun.

Sliding the little girls.

The pool was a big hit also.

Randy and Brenda in our new swing with Reese and Hannah.

I found jewelry sets at Party City for $1, so I got the little girls some.
Reese loved showing them off.

Still showing it all off.

All three in their jewelry.

Leland got put in charge of opening things.

My little living room looks so packed in this picture.

We and my parents went in together to get his tent/tunnel system. It was a huge hit.

Scout Rank Ceremony

Ryland has been in cub scouts this year. We joined late in the year (November), but managed to get all of his requirements done so he ranked up from Tiger Cub to Wolf Cub Thursday night. He is so excited - tells everyone he is now a Wolf. There were only 2 in his den, but he loved it. I guess we'll see what next year holds as a Wolf.

Busy Week

Two Saturday's ago my brother and his wife (Tyler & Kelly) were in town with his band. The girls and I joined them at Grapevine Mills to hang out on Friday then we all joined them at Six Flags on Saturday. We had a great time. The weather was perfect (cloudy, cool, chance of rain) so the lines were short and it wasn't hot.

She was so excited to see Scooby-Do.

Then Tuesday was the Field Trip to the Zoo (I already told you about it). Friday was Field Day at Ryland's school. Last year (he was at a different school) all the kids participated in every event. So I expected the same this year and didn't' worry about getting there right when it started. Unfortunately, they had set up groups ahead of time and only 5 kids participated in each event. When we got there, Ryland had already done his morning events (we couldn't stay for the afternoon ones). So we just hung out with Ryland and his class for a couple of hours. He really enjoyed showing off his sisters so it all turned out ok.

Friday evening was MISD night at the Ranger's game. We paid $20 for 4 tickets! We also used Leland's Six Flags season pass parking so parking was free! We had a great time. The kids enjoyed the junk food and the game was good. We sat at the end of the third base line - right where the dots come out for the dot race (Ryland's favorite part of the game). It was also Fireworks Friday so fireworks went off after every home run. In the first inning, we had 2 home runs back to back - poor Raylee then thought there were fireworks every time someone got up to bat. We lasted until the bottom of the 7th inning before making our way home. It was a great evening.

Calling his aunt Lesa to brag that we were at a baseball game.

Saturday was the carnival at Ryland's school (I know - how many things can they put on one week). Leland took Reese with him to his office and I took Ry and Ray to the carnival. They had a great time playing games and earning candy.

So we had a busy, but great week and weekend. We had lots of fun and enjoyed our family time. This week will still be a little busy, but not quite as hectic. I'll be posting more pictures soon I'm sure - so stay tuned.
