Wow I haven't updated in a very long time. Tax season and yearbook season hit and we do good to just survive. So I'll recap the last 4 months.
January
My worst month of the year. I worked and worked and went to Big Spring for a week to work some more. We have a new secretary at the office who is amazing so this was probably the best January I've had in the 8 years I've worked for my boss there. It was all tiring though.
The kids did well though. The girls got to the spend the week with Grammy while I was in Big Spring and Ryland and Leland enjoyed their man week while we were gone.
February
Leland's worst month of the year. His final deadline on the 368 page yearbook is the first of March so February is crazy getting all of it finished. He also had a couple of UIL meets to attend. We visited him at the school most afternoon's and helped where we could.
We had a big snow in February. We had missed the snow over Christmas break so the kids were so excited to see so much snow. It was more fun since my parents were here at the time. Lots of fun.
We then went to Master Follies at LCU. It was fun seeing everyone from college. It was also fun to see my parents again since they live in Lubbock now.
March
Deadlines...Leland finished the awesome 2010 yearbook; I got past the corporate tax deadline. We were very glad when our busy seasons were finished.
Leland and I took 9 students and 4 other adults (including Leland's dad) to NYC over Spring Break. We went for the CSPA National Journalism Convention where we picked up a gold crown award for the online newspaper and a silver crown for the 2009 yearbook. We had a great trip. It was easy going, everyone had a good time, we did lots of sightseeing - a great trip.
We also took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge for a night. We started that tradition last year. After the yearbook is finished, we take the kids for a time of fun. We feel like all we do is work for 2 months and we want the kids to know we can still have fun with them. We all had a great time. It was a nice relaxing 2 days.
April
Travel is the word for April. We did stay home for Easter weekend. We had a great weekend being just us at home. It was beautiful weather. A great weekend.
I joined Ryland on his 2nd grade field trip to the Dallas Heritage Village. It was a fun day - beautiful weather and 3 good boys I was in charge of. The place was really interesting and fun.
The next weekend we headed to Austin. Leland was taking students to the State Journalism Convention (where they got a star award and Leland received the Edith Fox King journalism teacher award) so the kids and I went also. We stayed with Leland's aunt Brenda and had a great time going to the park with Uncle Randy, Aunt Brenda, and cousin Brandy. We love Zilker Park in Austin. It was a good quick weekend.
The next weekend Leland, Ryland and I went to Portland, OR for the NSPA National Journalism Convention and the girls went to Houston to stay with my brother Tyler and his family. We all had a good time (well, maybe not Kelly since she had 4 kids ages 4 to 2 to care for and she's pregnant).

My boys and I had a good time in Portland. It is such a calm city. We went to the Oregon Zoo which was great - a zoo in a forest is always nice. We also went to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry - what a great place. We barely hit the highlights but still enjoyed it so much. We enjoyed eating in different places and seeing such tall trees - a great trip.
The girls had a good time with uncle Tyler, aunt Kelly, and cousins Keynan and Parker. They loved getting to play with K&P so much. A HUGE thank you to Tyler and Kelly for being my plan B and keeping the girls on such short notice. We owe you guys.
So now here we are to current. Still not slowing down anytime soon. We have a few more weeks of travels and then the usual end of school year busyness. We are looking forward to summer and a slower pace for sure.
