Staycation #1 - Fossil Rim

We have heard many locals talk about Fossil Rim since we moved here. We finally decided that this summer Fossil Rim had to be visited. After some research, I found out they have a lodge. So we spent last night in the Peregrine Room. It was wonderful. This place had a huge balcony that overlooked a large grazing area. We sat and watched many animals come in to eat for the evening. It was awesome. Then the kids enjoyed the very large jacuzzi tub our room had. After a good night's sleep, we went to the safari camp for a buffet breakfast - again, lots of animals grazing for the morning. We then headed to the main entrance to start the safari drive and purchase our bag of food. What an experience. We immediately were met by zebras and deer of several kinds. They were all used to being fed by the tours so they were very friendly. We saw many animals on our 3 hour drive through the park. Leland got to feed a giraffe from his hand; we had zebra, a type of ram, and deer stick their heads into our pickup looking for more food. We loved this quick staycation. We highly recommend visiting Fossil Rim.

Reese Turns 3!

Our baby turned 3 this weekend. She was sooo excited about it being her birthday. She kept asking if it was HER birthday party yet. We had a great time celebrating our Reese over the weekend.

Our dear friend Donna gave Reese her present on Friday - a 3 lane slip-n-slide. We got it out Saturday evening and the kids had a blast. So much fun.

Sunday we had chocolate chip muffins and sang to Reese. She told everyone at church she was 3 now. For supper we went to some friends house for a cookout and the kids played in the water. I decided to attempt a giant cupcake for Reese. It actually turned out cute and was very tasty.

Monday some of Leland's extended family came over for fajitas and the party. Reese couldn't wait to open her presents and oooed and ahhhed over every one. She was so excited about the cake also. The kids had a good time playing in the water again.
