Wonderful Sunday

We had a great day yesterday beginning with worship services. Another congregation in town joined with ours yesterday for joint services. The place was packed. It was amazing that it all worked out. They moved all the adult classes to the auditorium so that the kids could take over all the classrooms. Ryland's class alone took up a huge room. The services were overflowing also. The worship was led by members of both congregations. The singing was wonderful. I think that was the first time that we had truely enjoyed worship services in a very long time. They had a potluck afterwards, but we decided that with 3 tired kids, it wasn't worth the effort. We grabbed a quick lunch and then ran home to change.

We then went to Leland's high school for a performance of their play "Moon over Buffalo." It was great. Sometimes kids have a hard time pulling off a comedy but they did a wonderful job. The girls kept quiet the entire time and Ryland enjoyed it greatly. At one point in the play all the actors were going in and out of doors looking for each other. Towards the end of that scene another one came out and asked where Paul was. Ryland shouted "in the closet!" It was so cute that he was that involved in it. We quickly explained that you have to be quiet during a play. Thankfully the director thought it was great.

We then ran home for just a few minutes before heading to a super bowl party. At first we were unsure if we wanted to go. Neither one of us are football fans, so die hard football watchers make boring super bowl parties to us. But at church yesterday morning the family who had invited us mentioned that they weren't really into the game and were looking forward to just hanging out. So we went. It was such a great evening of getting to know some of the church members that are our age. Those opportunities don't seem to come very often.

So by the time we got home and everyone into bed, Leland looked at me and said "what a great day." It was nice to have such a good day all around. I hope we get more of those opportunities soon.

I'm glad you had an opportunity to get to know some people from church. It takes a while to have enough of those opportunities to really feel at home.

I'm so glad you had a good Sunday after such a stressful week! I love that Ry talked to the actors--that's hilarious! Hopefully we'll talk sometime soon!
