What an adventure! One day we'll look back on this summer and say "we were crazy!" I still can't believe we moved with 3 kids one of them 6 weeks old but somehow we've managed.

Loading day was an adventure as expected. Our U-haul confirmation email said to pick up the truck in Midland (45 miles away) so our good friend Reuben drove Leland and Ryland there that morning. There was no truck to be found. After some searching in the system they discovered our truck was back in Big Spring so there they went. There was no truck to be found again. We had ordered a 26' truck. The system discovered a 24' truck and a trailer back in Midland that we could use - so there they went again. The original plan had us loading around 1 but they didn't arrive with the truck until after 3. Going great isn't it? Scott still had the youth group come over as planned so they began breaking down furniture and moving everything to the garage and driveway to have it ready for the truck's arrival. Leland, Reuben, Scott and a handful of young boys loaded the truck. Leland got determined to empty the house that night so Leland and Reuben finished loading while Shannon and I cleaned and carried everything left in the house out to them. We finally finished and got to bed at Reuben and Shannon's at nearly 1am. That was a very long day.

We closed on our house at 9am. Thankfully selling is much simpler than buying - fewer signatures. We headed back to the house afterwards to load up some trash we had left the night before. Sitting in her car was the new owner waiting on the Best Buy truck to arrive with her new refrigerator. We finished up and checked every closet again and said our good-byes. As Leland handed the garage door opener to the new owner, the Best Buy truck arrived - how strange. It was kind of weird to watch someone else start to make our home there's. We ate a final meal at our favorite restaurant Cowboys with Reuben, Shannon, Scott and Lauren - I'm going to miss that place. We did still have our storage unit to load up though. Leland's parents arrived in town about that time so it didn't take us long to load it up in the trailer and head out. We had a caravan of our minivan, Leland's pickup, Reuben's pickup, Lee's pickup pulling a trailer, and the U-haul pulling a trailer. I'm sure we were a sight. Leland did get concerned on how this trip would go when about 20 minutes outside of Big Spring the door to the trailer attached to the U-haul flew open. Thankfully another bump was hit and the door went back down but Leland had to drive about 90 to get infront of his dad to get him to pull over and deal with the door. Thankfully that was the only incident on the trip. We arrived at our hotel around 9pm. I think everyone crashed hard.

Leland and I had to meet our realtor at our new house for one final inspection before heading to Dallas to close. Ryland decided to join us because he wanted to be the first to see the house. :) After many signatures and a great meal at Cracker Barrel we went to get our new keys. We went back by the house to say a prayer and Leland and Ryland rolled on the carpet before we went to get the others. :) Unloading never seems to take as long as loading. My brother Mitch and his wife came in around 6 and helped with the final stuff. Our garage was completely filled that evening. All the guys except Mitch left for an errand so Mitch put together all the beds for us. Leland was so thankful - he even gave Mitch a hug for it. :)

We still had one trailer to finish unloading but we took the day easy. Reuben, Shannon, Leland and I had been at this for a week and were totally exhausted. Lee and Sandy went with a good friend of theirs to Cabelas for the day. They even took the kids. :) We showed everyone the high school and then took some things to a storage unit. Mitch and Katie headed home with the piano and several baby clothes boxes they inherited.
We would never have survived moving without our good friends Reuben and Shannon. They helped back when we were getting the house ready to show and when it was actual moving time. They worked so hard - too hard. Shannon was such a help with the kids also. My kids love her dearly so having an extra hand during all of it was greatly appreciated. Thank you again guys. We appreciate it so much.
We also appreciate Lee and Sandy for helping us move. It was a long drive for them but we thank you so much for doing it. Lee helped so much by driving the U-haul and trailer and being able to maneuver it on our skinny street. Sandy was such a great help with the kids as always. She just closed them all in a bedroom with her and played while everything was being moved in. Thanks again for all your help.
Mitch and Katie were also a big help even though I forced them to come. We had decided to pass the family piano on to them so it worked out for them to meet us and move the piano from the U-haul to their trailer. It was wonderful seeing them and such a big help also. Thanks again.
I have a great picture to post but Blogger won't cooperate. Maybe another day.
