1st Day of School and Cakes

Well, I have a 1st Grader. I think that fact makes me feel older more than sad he is growing up. Ryland switched schools this year so we were a little concerned about him feeling apprehensive on the first day. Boy were we wrong. He was so super excited. He was ready extra early, he was bounding all around the house, he couldn't wait to get to his classroom. He was so excited for school. He seems to have a great teacher. She is super organized which is very good for my son. He made a friend today also making the day "The Best Day Ever" in his words. It just made us so happy to know what a great day he had. Following are this mornings photo shoot. Such a ham as always. :)

Showing off the Speed Racer backpack.

Showing off the muscles.

Wanting to look like he's running.

I had to convince him to just stand there and look nice.

We've had some cake fun recently. Sunday our church's 1st grade families had a pizza lunch for the kindergarten families. I was assigned to bring cookies, but Leland and I decided to get creative instead. What do you think?

We made Ryland a small cake with the leftovers.

Then for Leland's birthday I made carrot cake (the only one I make all year long). He and Ryland had already gotten their pieces when Ryland informed us that is is not a birthday cake if it doesn't have decorations and candles. So we whipped out the icing and blew out some candles. It's funny how your birthday's importance changes after you have kids. :)

And finally just a cute picture of Reese. She had lots of fun watching the cake fun.

Aww...he's so cute! And getting sooo big. I can't believe he's in first grade! I love the pictures of him being a goof :)

And the last pic of Reese is so precious! She looks so very adorable with her little teeth showing!

Way to embrace the moment and add icing to the birthday cake at Ryland's suggestion. You are making such good memories with your kids.

Hey, Hope you guys are doing well! Having a 1st grader is fun, but they seem so much more grown up!
