Yesterday was our 9th anniversary. Sometimes it seems like it was only yesterday and other days it seems like we've been together forever. We had a nice anniversary though. We both worked most of the day (he at his office at school and me at home). Our friend Donna came over at 5 to watch the kids for us while we went out to eat. We ate at the Cracker Barrel - just because we can. :) It was wonderful as always. We then went shopping. Donna made fun of us for shopping on our date but we said nothing could be better - shopping without kids. We found slip covers for our couches and a few other random items we had been hunting for. We rushed home by 8:30 because I figured Reese would be getting hungry. We walked in and Reese was asleep for the night and Donna and Raylee were making cupcakes. She hadn't expected we would be back until after 10 so she was disappointed we cut her evening short. Thank you Donna for allowing us to go out by ourselves - we really appreciated it.
Leland always gives me red roses on our anniversary - the number of years matches the number of roses. He said he started at 11 am calling flower shops. Red was hard to come by and when he did find them they were $6 a rose. He decided to try the grocery store. They had some beautiful red roses in dozen batches. He only wanted 9 though. He kept trying to only pay for 9 and the lady couldn't understand why he wouldn't want the entire dozen. She said she'd never had anyone not want the whole dozen before. So after a long discussion, I got the 9 and Donna got the 3. They are beautiful!
Thank you Leland for 9 wonderful years. So much has changed - 3 towns and 3 kids later - I still love you with all my heart. I'm looking forward our future together.

Awww, so sweet! Happy Anniversary again :). I'm glad you guys got to have a date by yourselves--I agree, shopping without children is to be savored.
As for the rose thing--don't you miss Dakota's already? You know we could have given him 9 roses (arranged beautifully; not to mention the special treatment because you're a good friend!) ;)
By the way, the new shop is open and operating under the new name, so now it's Inspirations. The grand opening is tomorrow and Saturday.
Hope you have a good rest of the week :)
I do miss Dakota's. Small towns are nice for the small stores that take extra care of you.
Wow-I cannot believe it has been 9 years!! :) Congratulations and happy anniversary-I am glad you were able to get out and celebrate without the kids! It is funny you mention Cracker Barrel-a few weeks ago I ran into Leland's mom at the one in Abilene while they were there for the teacher workshop. Random...
I hope you are getting settled in to your new surroundings, and everything is going well! I am actually in Denton for the moment while I look for jobs-so we should try and get together sometime! :) Blessings~
